Seven Days

An experimental high profile series for Channel 4 and the first to film and transmit weekly, Seven Days follows the lives of the diverse community of Notting Hill, while Chat Nav, a live website, encourages viewers to interact with and influence their stories as they unfold…

Seven Days was designed to be a big television experiment, which is why I wanted to be involved. The idea was an interactive, live, documentary soap which run almost simultaneously with life. Channel 4 wanted it to be the next Big Brother - and it was a big risk for them.. It didn’t attract the mainstream audiences of shows coming out at the same time like TOWIE and Made in Chelsea. Still, I’m proud of it. It was the hardest job I think I’ve ever done - running crews simultaneously, filming with 4 sets of contributors at a time, working 18-hour days, 6-day weeks - but I learned a lot.

‘Interactivity may be its unique selling point, but the big innovation is how quickly transmission follows filming… I found the first outing compelling ... It manages to be intimate without being invasive, funny in some places, charming in others, and bleak on occasion… there's a certain forthright honesty about it
